Trends on the Tour

Check back weekly as the Luxury Home Tour Trend Specialist, Brianne Bauer, shares her trend of the week.

June 16

Traditional: This year’s homes catered to the classics. Children’s bedrooms take flight with light pastels, soft curved furniture and light-as-air linens, and nautical themes complete with clean crisp whites, dark navy blues and rich wood.

June 9

Master Bedroom: A private retreat, these luxurious suites often include spacious "his and her" walk-in closets and dressing spaces, spa-like bathrooms, seating-areas with fireplaces, and luxurious linens.

June 2

Quality: Oversized crown moldings, chef-ready kitchens and small details separate the luxe home from the rest of the pack.

May 26

Suspended Fireplace: A strong statement, both modern and inviting, the fireplace is being used throughout the home to invoke a sense of warmth and comfort.

May 19

International design: Flavors from around the world infuse today’s home. Whether through architecture, art or design, homes are adding a hint of Asian, African and European accent.

May 12

Wood: Everyone this year is letting their grain show through as natural wood is the new favorite. Finished to perfection or perfectly raw, wood is covering floors, windows, walls and ceilings.

May 5

Metal: Warm metal finishes can be seen throughout the home, appearing in more than just hardware. Oil rubbed bronze and combination brass and chrome are being introduced, while brushed nickel continues to hold as a fast favorite.

April 28

Fabric: Natural fabrics add comfort to any home. Suede and leathers continue to dominate, while burlap-woven linen adds raw organic texture.

April 21

Color: Add tranquility to your home with warm neutrals and colors found in the garden. Homes this year pair golden hues and butter yellows with mossy greens, blue violets, deep purples and cinnamons, as well as clear, clean shades of lavender and blue.

April 14

The Look = Nature: Uncluttered and relaxing, the new contemporary has a clean, fresh look that focuses on elements of design. Earth-tones, reclaimed natural woods and stone, marble and granite textures turn every room into a natural oasis.
